PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a predetermined color state such as a white balance even when the wavelength change of a laser beam occurs in an image display device 1.SOLUTION: The image display device includes: a plurality of laser light sources 2a to 2c for outputting laser beams having different color components R, G and B; optical parts 3 and 4 for synthesizing the laser beams having the color components; a laser control part 10 for controlling the outputs of the laser light sources; a branching unit 13 for branching the respective color component laser beams by a reflection rate having increase/decrease characteristics reverse to the increase/decrease characteristics of the outputs of the laser beams in the case of increasing/decreasing the outputs of the respective color component laser beams with respect to the wavelength change of the respective color component laser beams for maintaining the predetermined color state of synthetic rays of light; and a detector 12 for detecting the light quantity of the respective branched color component laser beams. Then, the laser control part 10 controls the outputs of the laser light sources 2a to 2c in accordance with the light quantity of the respective branched color component laser beams detected by the detector 12.
