PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of enhancing connection workability of an optical fiber with a relatively simple configuration according to one embodiment.SOLUTION: A front housing 5 comprises a cantilever beam-shaped operation lever 12 having a base part 13a fixed to a wall part and a tip part 13b extending along the wall part connected to the base part 13a toward a rear housing 6. A fiber grip unit 25 provided in the rear housing 6 comprises: a grip element 26 rising from both sides of the base part and having a pair of holding pieces to sandwich a core wire part 43 of an optical fiber 40; and an operation cap 27 pressed by the tip part 13b of the operation lever 12 to be pushed into an element housing chamber 22 and having a pair of legs 27b to sandwich the pair of holding pieces of the grip element 26 from both sides.
