PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of effectively cleaning an image carrier even when using a low-temperature fixable toner having a spherical shape, thereby forming high-quality images for a long period.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier 2, a plate-like support member 72, a plate-like cleaning blade 71 having an angular edge part, and a support member holding part 74 that brings the edge part 71a into contact with the surface of the image carrier and holds an end of the support member opposite to an end supporting the cleaning blade, at a position on the downstream side in the rotation direction of the image carrier of the edge part. A material forming the edge part has 100% modulus at 23°C of 6 Mpa or more and 12 Mpa or less. Vibration applying means 75 for applying vibration in a thickness direction of the support member to the support member is provided to the support member at a position closer to the end supporting the cleaning blade than a position held by the support member holding part.
