PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter device and an imaging device that can accurately limit incidence of subject light even when an external force and the like is added.SOLUTION: A shutter device 100 including a front curtain blade group 121 that is opened/closed by a front curtain drive motor 140 and a rear curtain blade group 131 that is opened/closed by a rear curtain drive motor 150 comprises: a front curtain detection part 114 that detects an opening/closing state of the front curtain blade group 121; a rear curtain detection part 115 that detects an opening/closing state of the rear curtain blade group 131; and a control part 6 that controls the front curtain drive motor 140 to drive the opening/closing of the front curtain blade group 121, and controls the rear curtain drive motor 150 to drive the opening/closing of the rear curtain blade group 131. When the control part 6 determines that the opening/closing state of at least one of the front curtain blade group 121 and the rear curtain blade group 131 is the closing state on the basis of a detection output of the front curtain detection part 114 and the rear curtain detection part 115, the control part 6 drives the front curtain blade group 121 and the rear curtain blade group 131 to the opening state.
