Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the enlargement of size of a device comprising a light adjustment part which performs adjustment of a quantity of light.SOLUTION: In order to solve the above problem, the projection type image display device of the present invention comprises: a light source; a light modulation element modulating light from the light source; a reflection member reflecting the light from the light source in a direction different from an incident direction and guiding it to the light modulation element; a light adjustment mechanism adjusting a quantity of incident light; and an actuator driving the light adjustment mechanism. At least a part of the actuator is provided on a back side of the reflection member when the light incident and emission side with respect to the reflection member is defined as a front side.
