PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus having a configuration allowing an illuminance unevenness in a projection object surface to be reduced and allowing a high-quality display image to be achieved.SOLUTION: The image display apparatus has an illumination optical system and a projection optical system, modulates light by a plurality of fine mirrors so as to form an image on a projection surface, and includes a flat plate glass with an antireflection film. The antireflection film satisfies τCC/τAC≥τCN/τAN, thus providing the multilayer film structure (where τAC: the wavelength 550[nm] of the flat plate glass incident light, the average permeability τCC in the incident angle 15 to 65 [degree] : the wavelength 550[nm] of the flat plate glass incident light, the permeability τAN in the maximum incident angle: the wavelength 550[nm] of the flat plate glass incident light when there is no antireflection film, the average permeability τCN in the incident angle 15 to 65 [degree]: the wavelength 550 [nm] of the flat plate glass incident light when there is no antireflection film, and the permeability in the maximum incident angle).
