Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand the functionality of an evaluation and control unit under the consideration of a defect in a conventional technology of a wide area lambda sensor.SOLUTION: The evaluation and control unit includes: a signal processing unit; an analog/digital converter; a digital pump current control unit; a digital interface; a pump current source; an internal pump electrode terminal; an external pump electrode terminal; and a reference electrode terminal. The signal processing unit is disposed for calculating an actual value corresponding to the pump current control unit of a wide area lambda sensor, and the signal processing unit is disposed for acquiring information related to the operating state of the wide area lambda sensor, and the information related to the operating state of the wide area lambda sensor includes information related to the existence of cable short-circuit or cable voltage drop, and the information related to the operating state of the wide area lambda sensor is output via a digital interface.
