PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause an image processing apparatus capable of reproducing a moving image in changed focus state to control the focus state in accordance with a reproduction speed, thereby facilitating user's recognition of a subject image.SOLUTION: An image reproduction apparatus 100 is capable of reconstructing and reproducing image data in a designated focus state. An image generator 104 generates a first image with a shallow depth of field for which a focus state has been designated and a second image of a deep depth of field, relating to a pan-focus image in which a plurality of subjects are in focus. A reproduction controller 103 and a display focus information determination unit 108 compare the reproduction speed of the image data with a threshold and if the reproduction speed is not smaller than the threshold, perform control to generate and reproduce the second image or the second and first images. If the reproduction speed is smaller than the threshold, the reproduction controller 103 and the display focus information determination unit 108 perform control to generate and reproduce the first image.
