RECEIVER AND SOFT DECISION DATA PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver that has a reduced size of a memory for storing soft decision data.SOLUTION: The receiver includes a demodulator, a floating point number generation section, the memory and a decoder. The demodulator demodulates a received symbol to which a plurality of bits are mapped to generate a plurality of soft decision data. The floating point number generation section converts a first one of the plurality of soft decision data to a floating point number, and converts a second one of the plurality of soft decision data to a relative floating point number represented by a relative value to the first soft decision data. The memory stores the floating point number and the relative floating point number generated by the floating point number generation section. The decoder estimates the plurality of bits mapped to the received symbol on the basis of the floating point number and the relative floating point number stored in the memory.
