Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which is capable of achieving display with high brightness and high contrast while suppressing light loss in a low-transmittance area due to disclination during application of a voltage.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes: a substrate 10; a base 25 arranged so as to face the substrate; a liquid crystal layer 50 held between the substrate 10 and the base 25; pixel electrodes 9 provided on the substrate; a common electrode 16 provided on the base 25; an alignment control part 16c which is provided on the substrate 10 or the base 25 and aligns at least a part of the liquid crystal layer 50 radially slantwise; and a condensing element 21 which is provided on the base 25 on the incident side of illumination light L and condenses the illumination light L impinging on the liquid crystal layer 50. The illumination light L is condensed toward a part of the liquid crystal layer 50 corresponding to a part not provided with the alignment control part 16c so that the alignment control part 16c is surrounded with the illumination light L when viewed in a direction in which the illumination light impinges. |
