Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device making it possible to upgrade recovery efficiency of regenerative energy.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device is used for a vehicle that transmits power of a rotary electric machine 3 to driving wheels 6 via a transmission 4, transmits rotations of the driving wheels 6 to the rotary electric machine 3 via the transmission 4, and obtains regenerative energy from the rotary electric machine 3. The vehicle control device includes a control means that, when an accelerator opening degree is reduced by a predetermined quantity or more, implements shift control so that a shift position of the transmission 4 is up-shifted. When the accelerator opening degree is reduced by the predetermined quantity or more within a predetermined period of time, the control means inhibits the up-shift of the shift position, so that regenerative energy is obtained from the rotary electric machine 3. The control means sets the predetermined period of time so that the predetermined period of time when the shift position of the transmission 4 is at a higher shift position is longer than the predetermined period of time when the shift position is at a lower shift position, and inhibits the up-shift of the shift position of the transmission 4. In addition, when the accelerator opening degree is changed in an increased direction after the up-shift is inhibited, the control means releases the inhibition of the up-shift.
