Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bit coding apparatus that can suppress a deterioration of an error correction capability in the case of a high coding rate.SOLUTION: The bit coding apparatus for error-correcting-coding an input bit string input thereinto to generate a coded bit string includes: a coding section for error-correcting-coding the input bit string to generate a first bit string; an extraction section for extracting a second bit string from the first bit string; and an information compression section for irreversibly compressing the second bit string to generate a third bit string. The coded bits include at least part of the third bit string.
