PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which makes it possible to realize processing for scanning a document and then classifying and storing it by an intuitive operation like physical classification of the document.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: acquisition means that acquires image data by imaging a document; direction detection means that detects a frame-out direction when the document is framed out from an area where it is read by an imaging apparatus; and classification means that classifies the image data acquired by the acquisition means into a group corresponding to the frame-out direction.
