PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damages on a degassing valve provided on each battery cell, so that the cooling efficiency of a battery is not to be largely deteriorated.SOLUTION: A battery unit for a vehicle comprises: a battery 20 composed of a plurality of battery cells 22 each including a degassing valve 22v and coupling members 25r surrounding the battery cells 22 for connecting the plurality of battery cells 22; a case 30 for housing the battery 20 with a gap disposed therebetween; and a cooling fan for supplying air to a space in the case 30 and cooling the battery. On an internal surface of the case 30, a protrusion 38 is protrusively formed toward the coupling members 25r near the degassing valve 22v, in a state not contacting with the coupling members 25r, and the protrusion 38 can prevent the internal surface of the case 30 from being in contact with the degassing valve 22v by coming into contact with the coupling members 25r when the case 30 is squashed with an external force applied thereto.
