PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a chance of foreign matter generating inside an optical receptacle.SOLUTION: An optical receptacle 100 includes: a fiber stub 1; a cylindrical auxiliary member 2 formed of ceramic material with one end side of the fiber stub 1 inserted; a sleeve 3 having another end of the fiber stub 1 inserted from one end and an end surface on one end making contact with the auxiliary member 2; a shell 4 with the auxiliary member 2 have one portion positioned outside and inserted in one end side and the other end side surrounding the sleeve 3; and a cylindrical holder 5 with one portion of the auxiliary member 2 inserted. A chance of having an end surface of the holder 5 shaved off is capable of being suppressed by having the end surface of the sleeve 3 come into contact with the auxiliary member 2 formed of ceramic material.
