PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely attach and detach a memory card.SOLUTION: An electronic device includes: an enclosure having a front surface, a rear surface, and a side surface; a cover which is detachably attached to the front surface or the rear surface; an opening provided in the side surface; a card attachment chamber which is provided in the enclosure and receives a memory card detachably through the opening to store the memory card; a closing piece which extends from a part of a periphery of the cover and closes the opening when the cover is attached to the enclosure; a power supply section which supplies drive power to the memory card stored in the card attachment chamber; a magnet provided in the enclosure opposite surface of the cover; a magnetic sensor which is provided in the enclosure and detects magnetism that the magnet generates when the cover is attached; and a control section which activates the power supply section in response to the output of the magnetic sensor and access information to the memory card. When the cover is detached from the enclosure, closing of the opening is cancelled, and power supply to the memory card is stopped or access of the information to the memory card is stopped.
