PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more suppress delay required in the case of switching a wavelength selection switch constituting an optical transmission device in accordance with the signal type of a signal light than a conventional manner.SOLUTION: An optical transmission device includes: (1) a wavelength selection switch having a plurality of output ports, for dividing an input signal light for each wavelength channel, and for switching an output port to be used for the output of the signal light for each wavelength channel; (2) an optical coherent identification section for receiving a branched signal light, and for identifying whether the wavelength channel of the signal light is a polarization multiplex signal light or a single polarization signal light; and (3) a switch control section for controlling the switching operation of the wavelength selection switch on the basis of the identification information of the optical coherent identification section.
