Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress occurrence of an after-image.SOLUTION: A display device 10 includes: a liquid crystal panel 11 in which pixels constituted of liquid crystal modulation pixels are disposed in a matrix shape; a liquid crystal driving part 13 which sequentially selects and scans a line of each pixel of the liquid crystal panel 11 by a plurality of scan lines and allows a projected image to be displayed on the liquid crystal panel 11 by supplying a data signal from a data signal line to the pixel of the selected line; and a back-light control part 14 for controlling lighting of a back-light 12 which illuminates the liquid crystal panel 11. The liquid crystal driving part 13 performs scanning of a portion of one screen within a half (1/2) period of the period from starting scanning of a portion of one screen to starting scanning the next portion of one screen, and the back-light control part 14 lights the back-light 12 after the transmission rate of the liquid crystal is sufficiently stabilized.
