Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide more efficient means and method for cooling a tip of a turbine blade, in particular, a last-stage blade of a composite material.SOLUTION: An axial flow turbine 10 is described having a casing 11 defining a flow path for a working fluid therein, a rotor 14 co-axial to the casing, a plurality of stages, each including a stationary row of vanes 12 circumferentially mounted on the casing a rotating row of blades 13, circumferentially mounted on the rotor 14, with an inner face of the casing exposed to the working fluid having one or more essentially circumferential grooves 111 of increasing depth each ending in an extraction port 112 with a bore. One or more grooves 111 ending on a joint line (C) of the casing 11, and a bore 12 for the extraction port are positioned on both sides of the joint line (C).
