Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material for an air electrode, capable of improving discharge voltage by lowering discharge overvoltage of a metal air battery.SOLUTION: There are provided: a carbon material for an air electrode, which is a carbon material constituting an air electrode of a metal air battery including the air electrode that uses oxygen as an active material, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer that is interposed between the air electrode and the negative electrode, while the oxygen content on the surface of the carbon material is 7 atom% or more; an air electrode including the carbon material for an air electrode; and a metal air battery including an air electrode including the carbon material for an air electrode.
