RUBBER COMPOSITION FOR TREAD AND PNEUMATIC TIRE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tread that can improve high mileage and wet grip performance, and abrasion resistance in favorable balance; a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: To provide a rubber composition for a tread includes: a rubber constituent; silica; and a silane coupling agent having a mercapto group. In the rubber composition, a content of a conjugated diene polymer obtained by reacting an alkoxysilane compound to one terminal of a copolymer that has a monomer unit based on a conjugated diene, a monomer unit based on a compound shown by the formula (1), and a monomer unit based on a compound shown by the formula (2) is at least 5 mass% in 100 mass% of the rubber constituent, and a content of the silica is 5-150 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the rubber constituent. In the formula, Vand Vdenote a hydrocarbyl group having a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond; Sdenotes a substituted silyl group; and Adenotes a substituted amino group or a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group.
