PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine the priority of a conversion candidate.SOLUTION: A Chinese character conversion device 700 includes: a category storage part 83 for storing category information showing the attributes of an application program in association with each application program; and a conversion part 73 for, when the application program is executed, selectively displaying on an LCD 3 a conversion candidate (therein, conversion candidate constituted of mainly "Chinese characters") corresponding to an input character string (therein, character string constituted of "hiragana"). The conversion part 73 reads the category information corresponding to the application program during execution from a category storage part 83, and determines the display order of the conversion candidate on the basis of the read category information.
