PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of operating sorting facility and the sorting facility, capable of replacing articles with small time and efforts, in the sorting facility in which there may be a change in article request frequency.SOLUTION: An arrangement management device 91 determines an attribute of an article (degree of frequency of requesting the article) on the basis of an order environment, and outputs a command to change a storage place (first load rack area 12/fixed shelf area 50/automatic storage and retrieval area 13/second load rack area 15) for the article of which the attribute has been changed. Accordingly, an operator is not required to determine the degree of frequency of the article in an operation field for each article, and each article can be quickly rearranged to a proper area on the basis of the command from the arrangement management device 91, for the article of which the attribute has been changed. In this manner, the operation efficiency is increased.
