Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict sticking of particles between adjacent electrodes.SOLUTION: A period for which a potential difference is made between adjacent electrodes is provided by shifting a drive timing for the adjacent electrodes by a time t in terms of application. Consequently, a potential difference is generated between the adjacent rear side electrodes when the application of a drive voltage for display is terminated. Accordingly, an electrophoresis particle group 11 present between the rear side electrodes during the period sticks to one of the rear side electrodes. The time t is equal to or longer then a time required to scan each pixel in an active matrix system or passive matrix system.
