PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which has a small installation area, can be operated ergonomically, has merits of an improved module structure, and avoids problems related to vacuum airtightness and sample contamination.SOLUTION: A device 100 for covering a sample includes: a vacuum chamber 105 of a metal container; at least one source of a cover material allocated to the chamber; at least one sample holding part capable of positioning at least one sample inside the chamber; a control electronic circuit; an operation console 103 for inputting an instruction to the circuit; and a housing 101 for surrounding at least the chamber and the circuit. The housing 101 has a width b equivalent to the width of the chamber, the chamber has a door 106 disposed on the front side of the chamber, the operation console 103 is present inside a leg region 102 disposed at the lower part of the chamber or at the front of the leg region, and the at least one source is attachable to the upper side of the chamber.
