PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant growth structure, soil for plant growth, or a method for growing a plant, which can reduce the supply quantity of moisture or a fertilizer, and supplies air to plant roots.SOLUTION: A plant growth structure includes a water repellent sand layer having a recessed part and formed with water repellent sand which is a particle whose surface is water-repelling coated, a water retaining layer located in the recessed part of the water repellent sand, and a plant located in the water retaining layer and extending its roots toward the water repellent sand layer. Moreover, soil for plant growth for growing a plant to locate the plant in the water retaining layer includes a water repellent sand layer having a recessed part and formed with water repellent sand which is a particle whose surface is water-repelling coated, and a water retaining layer located in the recessed part of the water repellent sand.
