Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) having high solubility in water and various fastnesses such as water resistance, moisture resistance, ozone gas resistance, abrasion resistance, light resistance, etc., especially excellent ozone gas resistance and a yellow ink composition that comprises the pigment and is useful for various recordings, especially for inkjet recording.SOLUTION: A water-soluble azo compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein x is an integer of 2-4; n is an integer of 1-3; group A is a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic 5-membered ring such as an imidazole group, triazole group, etc.) or a salt thereof.
