VEHICLE DETECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device which is hard to get affected by in-vehicle environment and can notify that there is an emergency vehicle and the like around an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device 3 for notifying an occupant that there is a prescribed vehicle around an own vehicle 1 includes: cameras 4, 5 mounted on the own vehicle 1; detection means 7 for detecting a blinking red light 6 from images around the own vehicle captured by the cameras 4, 5; and notification means for notifying the occupant of presence of a prescribed vehicle on the basis of a detection result of the detection means 7. The notification means consists of equipment in the vehicle, and when the equipment is an indoor lighting 22, notification to the occupant is performed by illumination change of the indoor lighting 22, thus facilitating the notification to the occupant. The occupant knows the presence of the prescribed vehicle 2 in such a way, and accordingly the occupant can rapidly and suitably cope with the prescribed vehicle 2.
