PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of miniaturizing a rotating unit rotatable to an apparatus body.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: an apparatus body 1; a rotating unit 22; a first gear 27a disposed on the apparatus body side in which the center of the gear and the rotation center of the rotating unit 22 are substantially concentric; a plurality of second gears 31 and 33 which are provided on the rotating unit side, can be engaged with the first gear 27a and are drivingly connected to each other; and resistance generating means 32 which is provided on the rotating unit side together with the plurality of second gears 31 and 33 and generates resistance to the rotational motion of the plurality of second gears 31 and 33, wherein the rotational speed of the first gear 27a is smaller than the rotational speed of a rotating part 32c.
