PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module that can facilitate compactness.SOLUTION: A lens for focusing on an image pickup element including a rectangle light reception plane is formed into an oval shape which has an image range part unnecessary for photographing of the lens removed, and a lens barrel or the like is formed so as to coincide with the shape of the lens. Open space defined by a removed part is made available on a side of the lens barrel similar to the shape of the lens, and thus, a part of a component part consisting of a focus adjustment actuator can be disposed in the space. The focus adjustment actuator can be disposed closer to an optical axis of the lens, so that compactness of an entire camera module can be facilitated.
