Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a polynucleotide that is a new cancer causative gene and thereby detecting the polynucleotide or a polypeptide that it encodes, and a kit and a primer set therefor.SOLUTION: A method is provided for determining that a fusion gene between part of ZNF264 gene present in some cancer patients and part of AURKC gene is a cancer causative gene, and detecting a polynucleotide being the gene and a polypeptide encoded by the gene. The detection method includes detecting a fusion gene between part of ZNF264 gene and part of AURKC gene, or a fusion protein that it encodes. A primer set or a detection kit includes a sense primer designed from a portion coding ZNF264 and an antisense primer designed from a portion encoding AURKC.
