PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure having high resistance to cracking during canning or use.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure includes a honeycomb structure section having a porous partition 5 and a porous plugged section 8. The plugged section 8 includes: in a cross section parallel to the extending direction of a cell 4 of the honeycomb structure, when a straight line that is positioned at a distance of 30% of a distance between an outer end face 11 which is an end face on the end face side of the honeycomb structure and an inner end face 13 which is an end face on the opposite side to the outer end face 11 from the inner end face 13 and that is perpendicular to the extending direction of the cell 4 is drawn as an inner boundary line K1 and a straight line that is positioned at a distance of 70% of a distance between the outer end face 11 and the inner end face 13 from the inner end face 13 and that is perpendicular to the extending direction of the cell 4 is drawn as an outer boundary line K2, an outer region 15 that is a region between the outer end face 11 and the outer boundary line K2; and an inner region 17 that is a region between the inner end face 13 and the inner boundary line K1 and has a higher porous rate than the outer region 15.
