PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of performing image selection not biased in terms of the content or attribute of images, and a control method of the image processing apparatus.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus calculates an evaluation value for each of a plurality of images on the basis of at least one of the content and attribute information of the images, and displays a part or all of the plurality of images in order of the calculated evaluation values as selection candidates that can be selected according to a user instruction. The image processing apparatus then updates the evaluation values of images other than the selected image of the plurality of images on the basis of at least one of the content and attribute information of the image selected from the displayed selection candidates.
