Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that simplifies manufacturing of an optical system including filter glass as an infrared filter, makes the manufacturing more inexpensive, and decreases a space demanded by the filter glass at the same time.SOLUTION: A glass wafer 1 is made of a copper ions containing phosphate or fluorophosphate glass, wherein the grass wafer 1 has a diameter greater than 15 centimeters and a thickness of less than 0.4 millimeters, and wherein at least one of the two plane-parallel surfaces 3, 5 of the glass wafer 1 is polished. There is provided the glass wafer 1 made of a copper ions containing phosphate or fluorophosphate glass.
