OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of optically coupling even without a space in an optical fiber insertion side of a connector housing while the simplification of constitution and reduction in the number of components are attained and a downsizing can be carried out.SOLUTION: An optical connector includes: a connector housing 3 having a ferrule insertion room 2 opened to the outside; and optical transceivers 6, disposed in the ferrule insertion room 2, to which ferrules 4 are connected. In the connector housing 3, there is provided a ferrule engaging part 25 for engaging the ferrules 4 joined at an end of optical fibers 51 at a connecting position with the optical transceivers 6. The connector housing 3 is configured so that the ferrules 4 are housed at a further internal position than an opening 21 of the ferrule insertion room 2.
