PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deposition control method for a conductive substance in a glass melting furnace capable of efficiently controlling the deposition of the conductive substance such as a metal in the glass melting furnace, and to provide also the glass melting furnace.SOLUTION: There is provided a glass melting furnace 1 which is configured to dispose a pair of electrodes 16 exposed to a melting space 11 formed with refractory bricks to directly energize and heat a molten glass G stored in the melting space, and to be able to discharge the molten glass G from a flowdown nozzle. The glass melting furnace 1 has a magnetic force source for giving an electrified state of the molten glass G a magnetic field in a direction orthogonal to the power supply current.
