PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that enables steering circumstances of a steering wheel to be found with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: An electric power steering device includes: a steering wheel; a torque detection part for detecting a relative rotation angle between the steering wheel and a pinion shaft which relatively rotates; a rack shaft which is meshed with the pinion shaft; an electric motor which imparts an assist torque for assisting an operation of the steering wheel to the rack shaft; and a target current calculation part which calculates a target current to be supplied to the electric motor based on a detection value of the torque detection part. The target current calculation part determines steering circumstances of the steering wheel based on a direction in which the relative rotation angle is produced and a rotation direction of the electric motor and calculates the target current to be supplied to the electric motor based on the detection value of the torque detection part and the steering circumstances of the steering wheel.
