PRINTING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevents occurrence of a situation where data different from printing data cannot be processed even when a free space of a buffer for storing the printing data decreases during printing.SOLUTION: A printing apparatus includes a buffer 1 which can receive printing data and control data from a host PC 20 and store the received data, and a buffer 2 which is disposed on a latter part to the buffer 1 and can store the printing data. During printing, data from the host is received and stored in the buffer 1 under a condition that a free space equivalent to the capacity of the buffer 1 is created in the buffer 2. As a result, even if processing of the printing data in the buffer 2 is impeded by an error generated during printing, data stored in the buffer 1 can be transferred to the buffer 2. Hence the printing apparatus can receive control data for eliminating the error and process the data.
