Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of saving electric power.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus can switch from a first sleep mode being a normal mode in which power is supplied from a power supply and a second sleep mode in which the power is not supplied from the power supply. A capacitor is charged during the normal mode and the first sleep mode. In the second sleep mode, an RTC part is operated by power supply from the capacitor. In the normal mode and the first sleep mode, an ASIC is operated by power supply from the power supply. The RTC part in the second sleep mode causes the image forming apparatus to shift to the normal mode corresponding to the detection that the image forming apparatus is in a predetermined state. The RTC part reads a flag stored in an EEPROM after shifting to the normal mode, acquires information when the flag indicates to acquire the information regarding the image forming apparatus, and causes the image forming apparatus to shift to the second sleep mode after the acquisition of the information.
