Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit protection element which can stabilize the pre-arcing time-current characteristic of an element part even when it is formed by using a sputter.SOLUTION: A circuit protection element of the present invention is formed to bridge a pair of top face electrodes 12 provided at both opposite ends of an insulation substrate 11, comprising: an element part 13 electrically connected to the pair of top face electrodes 12; a ground layer 14 provided between the element part 13 and the insulation substrate 11; a fusion cut part 15 formed on the element part 13 on top of the ground layer 14; an insulation layer 16 covering the element part 13, and end face electrodes 17 formed at both opposite ends of the insulation substrate 11. The element part 13 is composed of a sputter layer 13a formed by sputtering and a plated layer 13b formed on top of the sputter layer 13a by plating, the plated layer 13b being formed with a metal material whose thermal conductivity is smaller and whose specific resistance is larger than the sputter layer 13a.
