Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate thickness detector capable of detecting a plate thickness securely and stably by performing measurement once, even if there is not a process, for example, for shaking a workpiece vertically.SOLUTION: A plate thickness detector 1 of the present invention includes: a base block 2 on a top face of which a workpiece is placed; a movable base 3 for holding the workpiece by a bottom face parallel to the top face of the base block 2; a servo motor 5 for sandwiching the workpiece between the bottom face of the movable base 3 and the top face of the base block 2, and fixing the workpiece by predetermined driving force; and a linear sensor 6 for detecting a plate thickness of the workpiece, on the basis of the distance between the base block 2 and the movable base 3 when the workpiece is fixed.
