Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation system and an operation method thereof that are adaptive to hot water demands even when the power generation system stops because of its lifetime since measures for demands for hot water supply after a stop of the power generation system because of its lifetime are not examined so far.SOLUTION: A power generation system 100 includes: a power generation unit 1; a hot water supply unit including a hot water storage tank 2 and a combustor 11; and a controller which inhibits the power generation unit 1 from operating when the system stops because of its lifetime, inhibits hot water from being supplied from the hot water storage tank 2, and supplies hot water to a hot water supply load using the combustor 11.
