PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the state that paper-like media are accumulated until after conveyance.SOLUTION: A stage lock 51 is energized in a counterclockwise direction R2, engages a lock pawl 51A with a stage gear 41, and limits the movement of a stage 33. Also, when turned to a clockwise direction R1, the stage lock 51 separates the lock pawl 51A from the stage gear 41, and freely moves the stage 33. Further, in the state that the lock pawl 51 is engaged, the stage lock 51 allows only the rotation in the counterclockwise direction R2 of the stage gear 41 to enable the movement in an upper direction of the stage 33. Thus, in a bill cassette 19, just by depressing a lever 51B, moving the stage 33 downwards and then moving the stage 33 upwards after bills BL are housed, the bills BL are accumulated in an orderly and compressed state, and the stage 33 is not moved to a lower direction even when an impact is applied.
