Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for locating a surface of a solid growth culture medium in a plate to a plate working position.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for locating a surface of a solid growth culture medium in a plate to a plate work position, wherein the plate work position includes a sensor and has a datum level fixed in one dimension (z), the method includes: a step of arranging the plate to the plate work position; a step of, by using the sensor, detecting the medium surface of the located plate and measuring the distance to the medium surface; and a step of, by referencing the measured distance to the datum level, determining a surface positional reference, relative to the datum level, in one dimension (z) for the surface of the medium in the arranged plate.
