PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptic device that has high responsibility and reliability.SOLUTION: A control method for an electrooptic device (1) is to control the electrooptic device including: a display section (3) that has a plurality of pixels (20) which are provided correspondingly to intersections of a plurality of scanning lines (40) and a plurality of data lines (50) crossing each other and have electrooptic substances (80) between pixel electrodes (21) and a counter electrode (22) opposed to each other respectively, a pixel entering a first limit optical state, a second limit optical state, or one of a plurality of optical states between the first limit optical state and the second limit optical state; and a driving section (10) which supplies voltage pulses corresponding to image data to the respective pixel electrodes of the plurality of pixels in a plurality of frame periods so as to display an image corresponding to the image data on the display section, the display section being driven within a non-limit range excluding the first limit optical state and the second limit optical state.
