ELEVATOR HAVING EMERGENCY STOPPING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely stop an elevator at predetermined deceleration by generating a stable braking force by restraining the rebound of a damper in initial braking.SOLUTION: An elevator includes an emergency stopping device 10 for generating a braking force by sliding by pressing a guide rail 2 arranged in a hoistway by dampers 1 for stopping a car 24 of the elevator, and includes collision force direction converting parts each constituted of a pin 9 being a projection-shaped member provided in an upper part of the damper 1 and converting a collision force generated by a collision between the damper 1 and a top plate 15 of the emergency stopping device 10 into moving resistance in the horizontal direction when pulling up the damper 1 and a shim 8 being a recessed-shaped member supported on the top plate 15 of the emergency stopping device 10 by a case 16 and mutually fitted to the pin 9. The shim 8 restrains the rebound of the damper 1 by moving in the horizontal direction.
