Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic clutch capable of improving an operation property while restraining power consumption.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic clutch 100 includes: a rotor 1 including a friction plate 13; a stator 2 including an electromagnetic coil 3 for which current is carried thereto and current-carrying is stopped by a clutch-on command and a clutch-off command, respectively; and an armature 4 attracted to the friction plate 13 by electromagnetic attraction force generated by the current-carrying to the electromagnetic coil 3. The electromagnetic coil 3 includes a plurality of electromagnetic coils 31, 32. The electromagnetic clutch 100 further includes a circuit switching section 30, 35 for switching a current-carrying circuit to the electromagnetic coil 3 from a parallel circuit to a series circuit such that, when a clutch-on command is output, current flows in parallel to the plurality of electromagnetic coils 31, 32, and thereafter, when the armature 4 is attracted to the friction plate 13, current flows in series to the plurality of electromagnetic coils 31, 32.
