PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a node or the like suitable for improving communication performance by autonomous and distributed operation of each node in a MANET.SOLUTION: A node 3comprises: a transmission unit 19 for performing transmission to another one or a plurality of nodes after standing by for at least back off time from transmission by the node or the other node; a monitoring unit 11 for detecting the transmission by the other node; an estimation unit 13 for estimating the number of node pairs being performing communication whose transmission source is a peripheral node; a counting unit 15 for counting the number of node pairs having performed transmission whose transmission source is the other node after the node has performed transmission most recently; and a back off switching unit 17 for making the node be more difficult to perform transmission than a node in a normal mode by setting its back off time to equal to or larger than a reference value as in a low priority mode when the node has performed transmission, and setting the back off time to equal to or smaller than the reference value as in the normal node when the other node has transmitted the number of node pairs.
