PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of reducing operation halt in a water heater body due to clogging in a drain pipe.SOLUTION: A water heater includes a water heater body 4 for producing hot water, a neutralization unit for neutralizing condensed water, a drain pipe for draining drain water, and a controller 110 for controlling the water heater body 4 and the neutralization unit. The neutralization unit includes a neutralization vessel for neutralizing condensed water, a reservoir for reserving the condensed water neutralized in the neutralization vessel, and a drain pump 58 for draining the condensed water reserved in the reservoir through the drain pipe. The neutralization unit is provided with a temperature detecting means 134. When a detected temperature by the temperature detecting means 134 falls to a freezing start temperature or lower and the drain pipe is clogged, the controller 110 carries out a drain restriction operation in the water heater body 4.
