Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus that control the way of striking a marginal region depending on a head temperature to reduce displacement from a desired density at a position where an image after the second image is written when a plurality of sheets of print for a predetermined size or smaller are executed using a ribbon of a predetermined size.SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer printing apparatus, an image is recorded in a recording medium using an ink ribbon 315 in which a pair of ink portion having a plurality of color sublimating dyes and heat melting protection members are repeatedly disposed. The thermal transfer printing apparatus includes: a thermal head temperature detection part for detecting a temperature of a thermal head 227; a gradation detection part for detecting a gradation of an image; and a power supply control part for controlling power supply to the thermal head 227. When a plurality of sheets having a predetermined size or less are printed in a recording medium 313-2 using an ink ribbon 315 having a predetermined size, the power supply control part controls a power supply method in a marginal region based on a temperature detected by the thermal head temperature detection part and a gradation detected by the gradation detection part.
